PERMITS & APPLICATIONS

Whether you are constructing a new home, installing a driveway on a town road, or simply need a burning permit, simply use the link below on how to apply to receive your permit:

All construction projects exceeding $500.00 in value require a building permit and the completion of the Town of Lincoln Building Permit Application.   Follow these steps to receive a Town of Lincoln Building Permit:

1.  Print the Town of Lincoln Building Permit Application.

2.  Mail the completed application and $25.00 application fee to

          Town of Lincoln

          Attn: Clerk

          P.O. Box 98

          Warrens, WI 54666

3.  Upon receipt of your application, the Town Clerk will review your application and then if complete mail back to you your Building Permit to be clearly posted on the jobsite during construction.  NOTE: All 1-2 family residential dwellings with a construction expense of $50,000 or greater are subject to construction inspections by the Town's Building Inspector.  If your project requires inspections, the Town's Building Inspector will contact you to arrange inspections during the construction process.

New driveways connecting to town, county, or state roads require a completed and approved driveway application.  The cost for construction of the driveway and applicable culvert is the responsibility of the property owner and the Town of Lincoln does not provide this service.  NOTE: The Town of Lincoln can only approve driveway permits for Town Roads (use this application).  For driveways connecting to County or State Highways, please contact the Monroe County Highway Department at (608) 269-8740.  The application allows the Town of Lincoln to consider safety and proper drainage in the location and construction of your driveway.  There is no cost to apply for a Driveway Permit to connection to Town Roads.  Application fees may apply for County and State Highways.

1.  Print the Town of Lincoln Driveway Permit Application

2.  Mail the completed application to:

          Town of Lincoln

          Attn: Clerk

          P.O. Box 98

          Warrens, WI 54666

3.  Upon receipt of the application the Town Patrolman and/or Town Board will review the location of your proposed driveway and either approve, approve with changes, or deny the permit.  Both safety and proper drainage are consideration in making driveway location decisions.

Obtaining an address for your property within the Town of Lincoln is completed through Monroe County Land Information Office.  However, to begin the process, you will be completing the Monroe County Rural Address Application, following its instructions and then mailing all of its requirements to the Town of Lincoln Clerk.

1.  Print the Monroe County Rural Address Application

2.  Note, the application states to mail to County Land Information Office; however, please mail to the town's address below.  Mail the completed application and one check to Monroe County for $20.00 (recording fee) and one check to Town of Lincoln for $60.00 (sign and installation cost):

          Town of Lincoln

          Attn: Clerk

          P.O. Box 98

          Warrens, WI 54666

3.  Upon receipt of the application the Town Clerk will forward the application to the Monroe County Land Information Office for processing.  Once reviewed and processed by Land Information, address signs will be ordered by the Town and will be installed by the Town Patrolman in a visible location near your driveway.

Burning permits are not issued by the township, but rather through the Wisconsin DNR.  Click on this link to the DNR to apply or call 1-888-WIS-BURN.

New non-metallic mining projects as of 3-12-2019 must complete application.  Refer to ordinance for applicability.
